Nothing says “summer” like a bright, shiny lip — the kind that feels a little retro, like you applied it before hitting the roller rink on a hot July night, but still looks modern when you swipe it on with your very 2017 tousled wavy lob and gobs of highlighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty knows the feeling, and they’ve introduced eleven NEW shades in their Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss line just in time for the change of season. When the temperature rises, our dark, matte (and suffocating) liquid lipsticks get swapped in favor of a shiny, long-lasting gloss — gloss is like a fun, carefree little sister who just wants to go out dancing, and Marc Jacobs Beauty knows this better than anyone.
Who better than to bridge the gap between ’80s gloss and 2017 shine than Kaia Gerber, the teenage model daughter of one of the most famous supermodels of the 20th century, Cindy Crawford? She’s the perfect blend of yesterday (hello, celeb progeny) and today (hello, Insta famous.) Marc tapped Kaia, the current face of his beauty brand, to front the collection campaign and paired her up with legendary music video director Hype Williams to shoot the campaign video. Kaia’s rocking voluminous Studio 54 waves by hairstylist Guido Palau with a very shiny tangerine orange lip, and the whole spot has us feeling the retro glam, late-’70s summer vibes. Makeup artist Diane Kendal enhanced Kaia’s supermodel-in-training looks with Marc makeup, including a full brow and big, separated lashes. We have a feeling her model mom is very proud of her daughter right about now.
And what about the gloss itself? It’s truly legit — it won a Best of Beauty Award back in 2016, and promises a shine that’s like 30 coats of lacquer. (Marc and his beauty team don’t play around when it comes to gloss.) We’re super pumped about the new summer collection, which includes two named after Missy Elliott songs (Supa Dupa Fly and Work It) and two that reference the dearly departed Prince, Cherry Moon and, of course, Raspberry Beret.
Want to cop Kaia’s Instagrammable orange lip? It’s Call Me!, a shade so eye-catching it deserves the exclamation point. In fact, each summery, super-shiny shade in Marc’s new collection makes us want to slick on some color, put on our favorite hot pants, and take a few spins around the dance floor — rollerskates optional, of course.
If you’re a subscriber to the Allure Beauty Box, you’ll get to try out two of these Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers, so be on the look-out in your mail later this month to slick two of these babies. Otherwise, head to marcjacobsbeauty.com to nab your own.
