We’ve lost count now of the number of beauty hacks that seem to be floating around the internet. From brilliant to plain bizarre, people all over the world have tried everything possible to look their best. With the sheer amount of information though, we can’t possibly try out each and every hack. But that doesn’t mean we haven’t found some that legit work like magic. So from our precious online sources and through trial and error, here are five DIY hacks that we found really work.
To get the best skin ever
Stop spending thousands of rupees on buying body scrubs or those ‘shower gels with scrubbing beads’. Instead, throw together a sugar body scrub in the comfort of your own home, with ingredients you’ll easily find in your kitchen. Seriously, your skin will never feel the same again, plus, it’s easy to make and store. And this gingerbread sugar scrub will have you looking and smelling good enough to eat!
To get rid of puffy eyes
We’ve seen a lot of coffee-infused beauty products emerge recently, and they really do work. But you don’t necessarily need to go out and buy them. A DIY beauty hack that will change your life, is coffee ice cubes. (No, we’re not giving you the recipe to a cold brew.) But you’ve probably experienced the magical powers of rubbing an ice cube around your under eye area to get rid of puffiness. Now imagine what a coffee-infused ice cube could do? Rub one of these cubes around under your eyes and gently massage the area, and you will notice the puffiness practically gone.
To add a kick of moisture to dry, damaged hair
Those of us with dry hair are constantly on the lookout for a stroke of magic that can restore our lifeless tresses to its once glorious state. Well, we’ve found two masks to help you get your hair back into shape. The first one involves egg, honey and coconut oil – mix 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of honey and an egg yolk together, and apply it on your hair. Wash it off after 30 minutes with shampoo and conditioner, and your hair will be good to go. The second one uses 3 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and half a cup of yoghurt. Once the mask is mixed, follow the same procedure for soft, shiny tresses.
For the softest lips ever
If your dry, chapped lips are getting you down, a simple home remedy like this should give you moisturized lips in no time. First off, make a brown sugar and olive oil scrub to exfoliate your lips, followed by a mixture of yogurt and honey to calm and soothe them. And lastly, a dab of some coconut oil should give you the moisturized lips that stay that way for long.
To get rid of that pesky acne
Now while this one might sound a little odd, it’s been known to work great on breakout prone skin. So, the next time you have a pimple, make a paste of sea salt and water and apply it on the area till it dries, and rinse it off with water. Your pimple will be gone in no time.
